Hi,

Wondering if someone could give me some information as regards transmission boxes for my 2008 Touareg Altitude - manual. I recently put in a reconditioned box but my mechanic informs me my old transfer box has no central diff lock, whereas this reconditioned box has diff lock on all the time, so there may be variations from different models/years.

The company I bought from reconditioned unit says they are the same from 2002 to 2010.

Can anybody put me right on this?

The details of my old transfer box are listed below.

OAD.341.011.E 13.06.2007

Help appreciated..

Thanks

Harry

Yes, all fist generation Touareg transfer boxes have locking capability (referred to as the "center differential lock" in the owner's manual). So, there's no possible difference between them in that regard.

That being said, there were several different transfer boxes with different codes and with different shaft lenghts built into Touaregs, depending on model year and engine code.

Your old transfer box code was JXG. What's your new transfer box code?

Gnits,

I'd just like to say thanks for your advice, did get a secondhand transfer box with the correct designation 'JXG' in code and it's working fine now.

Appreciated

Harry
