So I am 4 months in to owning my first Touareg its a T1 2005 3.0tdi V6 in brilliant silver. I Have to say this is by far and away the best car i have ever owned even with a couple of teething issues that have been now rectified. It is so refined, fast when is the mood, an impeccable towing vehicle for towing my caravan(reason for buying) and has go anywhere ability(another reason for buying). I thought the E39 5series i had before it was good, but the touareg is another level entirely. The A bar and wheels were on it when i bought it, i think the wheels are a Porsche Cayenne wheel but not sure.
Since i have had it i have sorted a failing wheel bearing and drop link, parking brake strut. I have the boot struts to do but they are not a desperate job at the moment. No real mods planned as yet other than i might change the interoir lights to led but at the minute the standard glow of the bulbs is growing on me.
Off to the highlands of scotland with our caravan and two pooches next week so will add a few more photos from there when i have them.

A few photos for now

Looks nice!

Where are you going in Scotland? We'll be in Fife for 2nd half of June - should have been to the Shetlands but health issues are curtailing the really long trips at the moment.

Gairloch on the west coast south of Ullapool. Went there about 3yrs ago and vowed to go back it is breath taking. Might be near fife in September for the British touring cars.

The whole of the west coast is beautiful, but then the whole of Scotland is.

I assume you know the "glow" from the interior "mood" lighting is adjustable via the steering wheel buttons in 10% stages?

Thank you for kind words, its my 1st blue car! and diesel.. Most of my previous have been silver or black. Silver certainly easier to look clean! Black a nightmare, wash......drive a mile in rain, looks like you have not washed it. This blue is similar haha

Yes, i am pondering another tourer maybe next year, as we have a couple of breaks planned already this year.

An old pic i had to dig deep in photobucket for

It would sure be nice to tow with all the low down torque, the shogun was also a 3L v6 but petrol. That thing drunk! Like 10mpg drunk, but then petrol back then was near 90p a litre. Still not cheap mind, the 8+ yrs it was a good bus.

Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 now gone and replaced with the opposite end of the pollution scale, BMW i3 electric car, one word, love it. Previous cars 4.4TDV8 Range Rover, 2006 Touareg 3.0 TDi (Superb Car), Audi Allroad 2.5 TDI (Also Great Car).
If youre old fashioned and still burning fossil fuels, MORRISONS fuel which is the best choice for all Touaregs.
P.S. Watch the mods here, they do dark and devious things when youre not looking LOL

Main point is, Touareg doesn’t break out into a sweat towing this, no problem at all

I know what your saying. They tow formidably. By far the best tow car i have ever owned. It served as a van this weekend picking up some furniture and it swallowed it all.

Now back from two glorious weeks in sunny Scotland!!

Set off in the early hours of the saturday morning nice steady run up to Abington services (just south of Glasgow) for a stretch of the dogs legs and was greeted with frost and -5c!!
Carried on up and entered the Cairngorms and it was snowing quite wellAttached File  Cairngorms.jpg (113.12K)
Number of downloads: 18 Gradually got worse with about 6inches at the worst point on road edges but it was kept clear for the most part. Finally arrived at Sands Caravan site at lunch time and was set up completely by 2pm After a little bit of shopping. Attached File  Set up Beer o'clock.jpg (1.14MB)

Plenty of walking was down some of the views are simply breath taking, visited a WW2 memorial grave of a crashed USAAF plane that crash landed into one of the lochs an mountain.

Weather was excellent apart from the last day when leaving it started to rain and continued to all the way back through Scotland.
1500 miles covered in total and a calculated avg whilst towing of 24mpg and Treg didnt miss a beat.So much more comfortable doing the same Journey compared to my 5series on msport suspension got without feeling it. Even got a chance to try it out off road up a long steep grassy embankment and back down first time being able to try hill descent assist. Then up a sand dune to park up didnt even flinch.
And before i knew it it was time to come home :(
