My first contribution to this forum

Disabling Start & Stop

VCDS Procedure

1. Select [ 09 - Cent. Elect. ]
2. Select [ Security Access - 16 ] and enter the code ( 20113 )
3. Select [ Adaptation - 10]
4. Select "Channel 34"
5. Enter the following new desired value :
- Subtract "4" to the value of the channel : S / S systematically disabled each time the vehicle is starting(reverse to the original setting )
- Add "32" to the value of the channel : Storing status Start / Stop (ON or OFF). The status of the S / S front engine cut is restored after restartAnd alone or in combination of the above settings:

On my TReg , the default channel 34 = 4
I put the value 0 ( 4-4 ) : it works, the Start & Stop is disabled whenever you start with the lit orange indicator .

Thanks Jepasse for this great contribution (vcds guru badge earned for this)

09 Central electrics.
Security access 16, enter 20113
Adaptation 10
Channel 34

The original total value in channel 34 appears to be just 4 which as we know defaults SS to ON at each start.
Altering the total value by these amounts will make these changes....
Subtract 4 = default is OFF at each start.
Add 32 = default is last used setting.
Add 64 = reverses amber indicator.
Note with all choices the On/Off switch still functions.

Save value.

Great post, will try it tomorrow, although my problem might be slightly off.

I've had orange start stop light on on after the car was stationary for some time. Didn't really pay any attention to it, however noticed a bit of smell and loads of smoke coming out of exhausts after a couple of days even though every other warning indicators are off. ODB11 shows some fault codes : Gateway - Lost communication with ECM/ PCM,
Park/ Neutral Switch input circuit ,
Engine Off Timer Performance -
Energy management active -
in error terms:

Would really appreciate any advice, whether it is safe to drive or it really has to go to a qualified mechanic for inspection, as the one we took it to, just said its normal and that there are 20 factors that can affect this.
Wife needs to drive 100 miles out of town tomorrow.

For those without access to a VCDS your can disable Start / Stop permanently, or remember last button setting, switch the light around etc etc by buying the Carista £10.99 odb reader, and signing up to a free one month trial to their full app - make the changes you want and stop the subscription from kicking in.

The app can do loads of others things on the Touareg too, listed here, thanks to Roy T for the steer to this!

My New Touareg really infuriates me.

EVERY time I get in I do not mind pressing stop start off, but having to disable lane deviation control is just taking the mickey, if you forget it feels like the steering is loose the first time you go near a white line, then you remember again to turn it off.

You have to press steering wheel button, then select OK, then press steering wheel button again, every time.

Grey, standard apart from Pano roof / Heated screen, enough standard options that were "extra" on my BMWs.

£10,140 discount off list price, nicer car than my X5 40D M sport
