My R Line for some reason came with the grey pillar and roof lining. Someone with grubby hands has grabbed the A pillar on the passenger side and left a grubby finger mark. Has anyone got a recommendation for a cleaning product please? I'm tempted to just try warm water but I'm worried it will just smear.

If it oil or grease type mark I would use isopropyl alcohol something that can readily mix with the oil / grease and remove it. Carb cleaner may be ok but check it first on an unseen bit.

I use warm soapy water applied with a trigger spray, no rubbing just vacuum off with my Vax.

I'd use an upholstery cleaner if you have one handy, if not some diluted APC.

Cheers for the replies. I think it's more a dirty finger mark rather than grease or oil. My concern is with it being grey material, it'll just smear and look even worse. Will try the upholstery cleaner on a small area.

Phil

I had something similar once, used cotton buds and alcohol to make it very focussed.

I get it all the time..The fabric on the pillar is somewhat abrasive and when I clean the windscreen if I catch the pillar with the back of my hand it leaves a mark. Seems to be just skin/DNA sample that lifts off with the wet vac. Posted Image

I use Autosmart G101 diluted 1:30 for roof lining, general interior carpet and plastic trim cleaning. In fact we use G101 in various dilutions for just about every possible application in home, car and garden (except for showering or washing the dishes...otherwise anything goes!)

ps. I think the canyon grey r-lines came with light grey rooflining for some reason, maybe other colours too? My silver one has the black roof

How did you try to clean the marks in the end ?

I had some finger marks and used an impregnated kitchen wipe and dabbed the marks and gently wiped and they all came off and looks just like the rest of the pillar.
Escape 262 (Canyon Grey) ordered 14th August 2015, build week confirmed as 28th Sept, collected 28th October 2015.
